How to join

To join Maritime Super, you will need to obtain an Employer Pack, which provides information on Maritime Super's rules and products. In this pack you will find:

  • the Maritime Super Employer Guide (for either the Stevedores or Seafarers division)
  • the relevant Member Guides; and
  • a Financial Services Guide (issued by Maritime Financial Services Pty Limited).

Full Participating and Participating Employers (Stevedores division)

Becoming a Full Participating or Participating Employer couldn't be any easier; all you need to do is follow two simple steps:

tick Step 1 Contact Member Services to receive an Employer Pack.
Complete the Application to become a Participating Employer form (Stevedores division) at the back of the Employer Guide, making sure that only authorised persons sign the form.
Return the form to Maritime Super.

tick Step 2 Nominate your employees for membership (only after you have received confirmation from Maritime Super that your application in step 1 has been accepted.)
Complete the Nominating employees for membership form (Stevedores division) at the the back of Employer Guide.
Return the form to Maritime Super.

If you are accepted as a Full Participating or Participating Employer, we will send through with confirmation of your acceptance, your Maritime Super employer identification code and (if relevant) copies of Membership Summary brochures for the membership categories open to your employees. You can give these brochures to new and existing employees who enquire about the Fund when you nominate them for membership or with the Standard Choice form (if applicable) where you nominate Maritime Super as your default fund.

If any employees choose to apply for membership before you start contributing for them (which they can do by completing the form enclosed with the Membership Summary brochure or from a Member Guide), we will let you know their Member Number for contribution purposes.

It is important that you nominate your new employees for membership of Maritime Super as soon as you can. This is because the Fund offers insured benefits, available in most cases once the employee is enrolled as a member of the Fund. If you delay the enrolment of your employees as members, they may miss out on insured benefits they would otherwise be entitled to receive.

Contact Member Services for a copy of the relevant Employer Guide.

Contributory Employer (Stevedores division)

To make contributions on behalf of an employee that has nominated Maritime Super as their fund of choice, you will need to join Maritime Super (this also applies to existing Full Participating and Participating Employers of the Stevedores division who have non-stevedoring employees wishing to contribute to Maritime Super).

To do this, download the Accumulation Standard Member Guide, read the important Employer section and complete the Application to become a Contributory Employer form.

The Trustee will review your application and if you are accepted as a Contributory Employer, will send through confirmation of your acceptance and your Maritime Super employer ID.
